Marijana Kavčić works as librarian in the Oriental Collection of the National and University Library “St. Clement of Ohrid” – Skopje since 2005. She received her B. A. in Arabic Language and Literature and English language and Literature from the University of Sarajevo in 1989. In 2009 she received her M. A. in librarianship from the University of Zadar and in 2018 she received her M.A in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the University of Tel Aviv.
In 2006 she participated in the preparation of documents for revaluation of the three Oriental manuscript collections (in Arabic, Ottoman Turkish and Persian) of the National and University Library “St. Clement of Ohrid” – Skopje as part of the cultural heritage. She has been continuously working on their research and cataloguing which in 2020 resulted in publication of the Catalogue of the Persian Manuscripts. The results of her researches were presented in international conferences held in the country and abroad (Germany, Russia, United Kingdom, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and published in Macedonian and international professional and scientific journals.
During 2011-2012 she participated in the University of Michigan Library’s “Collaboration in Cataloging: Islamic Manuscripts at Michigan” project. She cooperates with archives and museums in the country with the aim of identifying and indexing their holdings in Arabic, Ottoman Turkish and Persian.
