Our Story

The National and University Library St. Clement of Ohrid – Skopje is proud to present the First International Conference on Cultural Heritage: Innovation, Sustainability, and Legal Frameworks for Preservation and Engagement. This landmark event will take place in Skopje, North Macedonia, on 29th and 30th of September 2025.
Bringing together leading experts, scholars, policymakers, and practitioners, the conference will serve as a dynamic forum for discussing innovative strategies, sustainable approaches, and legal frameworks in the field of cultural heritage preservation and engagement. With a special focus on cultural heritage in libraries and archival materials, this will be the first conference of its kind held in Skopje, marking a significant milestone in the region’s cultural discourse.

Announcement – Call for papers

First International Conference on Cultural Heritage: Innovations, Sustainability, and Legal Frameworks for Heritage Preservation

Dates: September 29–30, 2025, Skopje, N. Macedonia

The National and University Library “St. Clement of Ohrid” – Skopje is pleased to announce the First International Conference on Cultural Heritage, bringing together experts, scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to explore cutting-edge strategies and best practices in the preservation, management, and promotion of cultural heritage.

The conference will focus on the following key areas:

Innovative Approaches

Exploring forward-thinking methodologies and emerging technologies that enhance the conservation, interpretation, and accessibility of cultural heritage.

Sustainability in Cultural Heritage

Discussing long-term strategies for preserving cultural assets in an ever-evolving global context—emphasizing environmental, economic, and social sustainability.

Legal and Policy Frameworks

Analyzing the impact of laws, policies, and international agreements on cultural heritage protection, intellectual property rights, and cross-border cooperation. Presentations may also highlight the cultural heritage of individual countries and regions.

 Abstract Submission Guidelines
  • Abstract length: Up to 300 words
  • Language: English
  • Deadline for abstract submission: July 10th, 2025
  • Notification of accepted papers: August 1st, 2025
  • Submission email: conference@nubsk.edu.mk

All submitted abstracts will undergo a peer review by the Conference Committee. Selected papers will be included in the official conference program and published.

NOTE: Experts who receive a special invitation do not need to resubmit their abstracts. Please be reminded that your presentations should be submitted no later than September 15th. At the conclusion of the conference, a publication will be prepared featuring all contributions. For this purpose, the full paper should be submitted by October 15th.

IMPORTANT! Participants who wish to attend the conference without giving a presentation are required to pay a registration fee of 1,000 MKD to the bank account on this link. The deadline for registration with fee payment is September 15th 2025.
