Meet the Voices Behind the Conference: Our Esteemed Speaker Marija Sotirovska Bogdanovska

Marija Sotirovska Bogdanovska is a visual artist and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts – Skopje, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University – Skopje, where she teaches courses such as Conservation and Restoration, Painting Techniques, Painting Technology, and Applied Painting Practices. She graduated as a painter with a focus on restoration and conservation at the same faculty in 2006 and obtained her Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting in 2011.

Throughout her career, she has undertaken study residencies and participated in academic projects, including the General Academic Project – Symposium on Scientific and Artistic Activity “Encaustic” in Ahtopol, Republic of Bulgaria (2025), as well as the “One Way Ticket” symposium and workshop in Aur, France (2024).

She has held nine solo exhibitions, including in Gevgelija (2025), Skopje (2024, 2016, 2015, 2011), Berlin (2016), and Skopje, Strumica, and Kumanovo (2009). She has participated in approximately forty-five group exhibitions in North Macedonia and twenty abroad, including in Aur, Berlin, Prague, Cetinje, Zagreb, Gnjilane, and Belgrade. With the female artist collective MOMI, she has realized fifteen exhibitions. For her work, she has received several awards and recognitions, including the Special Award PONTEDIPJETRA at Paratisima in Skopje (2015) and the Second Prize at the Student International Art Biennale.
