PhD Lidija Robeva Čukovska is a chemist – advisory conservator at the NI National Conservation Center – Skopje, with over 30 years of experience. Her research is primarily dedicated to the study of historical objects, focusing on the chemical analysis of cultural heritage materials. She is particularly specialized in wall paintings, with expertise in the characterization of painting materials, their degradation processes and methods of preservation.
Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous national projects on cultural heritage conservation and interdisciplinary research, contributing to material characterization and providing practical recommendations for conservation. She is also committed to fostering collaboration between scientists and conservators. As a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Art in Skopje, she taught the course Chemistry in Conservation and Restoration. She has experience with a wide range of analytical techniques, with a particular emphasis on IR spectroscopy.
